I am a big supporter of the non-profit organization, PS Arts, whose sole purpose is to provide art education to under-served schools in the Los Angeles area. One of their best known and most popular fundraisers each year is Express Yourself – a celebrity driven celebration of children, art education and creativity, held in the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica airport.
Last year we were thrilled to participate in Express Yourself 2013, and this year I teamed up with Partners Trust and The Duck Brand once again to create a booth where children could unleash their creativity. PS Arts Express Yourself 2014 was phenomenal!
We had a fantastic booth! The Duck Brand donated hundreds and hundreds of rolls of tape and Lisa Price of Priceless Interiors designed a gorgeous girl’s bedroom to set the mood for our theme, “Home is where the Art is.”
The red carpet is always fun.
I hit the red carpet with Nick Segal, President of Partners Trust, my handsome husband, Don Diamont, Tracy Smith and F. Ron Smith, President of Leverage Global Partners and my good friend, actress Eva LaRue.
Celebrities and their children arrived on the red carpet, ready for a fun and creative day.
Once inside Barker Hangar, it was time to play and get creative. PS Arts programs serve more than 20,000 students each week. Children exposed to art and art education programs are better able to generate original ideas, collaborate with others and helps them to excel in other areas like math and science. There was plenty of collaboration and fun at our booth.
Crafting with the kids was so much fun! I also need to give a big thank you to Allison from The Duck Brand, who flew out from Ohio for the day to help with the event. Allison also coordinated with our talented friends at The Duck Brand to create a PS Arts logo out of Duck Brand tape. We had celebrities autograph it for us, and the art piece will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting PS Arts, of course!
Wonderful restaurants also donated delicious samples of their wares for us to try. The McConnell’s ice cream was insanely delicious!
PS Arts does amazing work to protect and preserve art education in Southern California schools. We are so grateful for their efforts and it is a privilege to participate in their fundraising events. Another big thank you to Lisa Price from Priceless Interiors. Her design and staging work is fantastic and it made our booth something really special.
We are looking forward to next year’s Express Yourself event!
Creativity. It’s important to nurture!
