Weddings can be such a glorious intersection of fashion and party planning, and even if you’ve been blissfully wed for many years, it’s always fun to see the latest trends. A member of my team recently got engaged, and I know the wedding planning is already underway! The 2018 wedding trends seem to be all about ultra-luxe, sophisticated details that will transform a wedding into a stunning dream come true.
Jewel Tones with Black Accents

Pastel tones had their heyday in the wedding world for a few years now. 2018 is seeing a pivot back to richer, jewel tones — often accented with black. Dramatic color palettes are playing out in florals, attendants’ wear, and invitations. I love Bella Figura’s copper foiled invitations on matte black cardstock. In fact, those invitations show how beautifully these colors pair with the next trend I love.

As much I love rose gold accents, I am happy to move on to copper as the metal of the moment. This absolutely stunning wedding cake from Cake Ink shows just how beautiful copper can be when paired with jewel tones. And rich color and warm metallics work incredibly well with my favorite wedding fabric trend of the year.
Velvet

Sequins have been swapped out for luxe velvet this year. The sumptuous fabric evokes feelings of luxury and opulence, especially when found in this year’s jewel tone color palette. There are so many ways to incorporate velvet into your wedding. Bridesmaids’ dresses — like this one from BHLDN — are the obvious choice, but the fabric can be use as table runners, bouquet ribbons, and more.
Bridal Capes

Rich-looking, elegant elements are in fashion in 2018. It should come as no surprise that this trend has carried over into bridal gowns as well. Runway designers like Elie Saab have incorporated capes into many of their 2018 designs. Instead of a traditional veil, brides are opting to wear a super chic cape or capelet.
Will you be incorporating any of these trends into your 2018 wedding? I wish you luck and love as you plan your special day!
