5 Gorgeous Flooring Trends for your Home

Flooring has a large impact on the feel of a space and defining the style of your home. With so many options out there, which do you choose? Carpet? Tile? Hardwood? All can be splendid and luxurious. Here are five beautiful flooring trends for your home.

Gorgeous floors can transform a room.

Hardwood Patterns

Hardwood floors are by no means new, but they are most definitely a classic. A trend that has seen a resurgence is parquet patterns, like chevron or herringbone. Along with finish and texture, a pattern truly makes your flooring unique to your home. It can add serious WOW factor.

Here is a gray wash wood plank in a chevron pattern.

And a dark wood plank chevron pattern. It really looks fabulous no matter what finish you choose.

And if you want to crank it up a notch, look at the spectacular inlays that are available today. This wood medallion in the works is just dreamy even unfinished!

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen this fabulous chevron patterned floor at my luxury listing in Pacific Palisades.

I’m in love with these gorgeous floors at #1135RivasCanyon. Crafted from #vintage white oak, the #chevron pattern makes them truly spectacular. Encaustic (Cement) Tiles

This may seem like a rather new trend in flooring, but encaustic tiles have been around for centuries. A carefully selected pattern chosen to complement your home’s style will make this a timeless and exquisite choice.

Love the Zahara – Gray Moroccan Cement Tile from ZocoHome. Perfection!

Salvaged & Reclaimed Wood

This trend is here to stay. The idea that you can take something centuries old and reuse it in a new and beautiful manner is just wonderful. The warmth and character these woods bring to your home are unequaled and the stories behind them are terrific conversation topics at your next dinner party.

The reclaimed wood floor in this stunning hallway is gasp worthy!

Large Format Tile

Large format tiles look perfect in open spaces and visually expand smaller rooms. It’s like magic! From rustic stone to sleek and modern finishes, they can suit any design style.

The clean lines and light color of this Tierra Sol ceramic tile are perfectly modern.

Mixed Flooring

Mixed flooring used to be only the result of transitions in spaces. For instance in an open great room, how to transition from the kitchen tile to the family room carpet/wood? Well, mixed flooring has grown up some and become a design choice unto itself. The creativity and character the choices can bring to a room are endless. Mix wood with tile in various shapes and sizes. Add a gold metal seam between tiles or wood slats. Let hexagonal marble tile run deep into wood planks. Tailor it to your style however you choose!

This kitchen is so airy & bright with it’s white porcelain hexagonal tile and grey wash hardwood planks.

A beautiful mix of wood planks & cement tiles eliminate any need for a transition. The floors just meld together.

These are just a few of the current flooring trends out there today. The versatility is incredible. My wood & tile floor might not resemble your wood & tile floor in the least! What a wonderful way to personally style your home.

Eager to find the home of your dreams in time to have amazing floor trends like these? One of my most recent listings is new construction being built by Huntington Estate Homes in the exclusive Norman Estates area of Brentwood. 1050 Norman Place will be finished sometime in the Spring of 2017… just in time for the new buyer to choose their finishes.

Which is your favorite new floor trend?
