Once upon a time, industrial lights were limited to warehouses and stockrooms. Fortunately, today we have a vast array of ruggedly decorative industrial style lights to choose from to put in our homes. With styles ranging from minimalist to eye catching, there’s an industrial light fixture for any home. Here are some of my favorite examples of this industrial-chic trend.
This chic pendant light has industrial style with vintage appeal. The aged steel finish has both pewter and bronze overtones. Featuring a caged lamp face with rugged industrial style rivets, this piece would look great in a kitchen, home office, or bar area.
This artsy fusion piece combines the artistry of hand blown glass with industrial components to create a sleek glass shade that provides excellent ambient lighting. Artist Joe Colombo designed the piece so that metal reflectors on the inside direct light downward, adding shimmer and an enhanced lighting effect. This custom made piece starts at $1050.
This fixture may not be for everyone, but the Galena Bronze Pipe Ceiling Light is quintessentially industrial in design. Four vintage style Edison light bulbs are safely housed in decorative cages. Bent metal pipes give this piece a rugged, early century warehouse feel.
Another piece from the Franklin Iron Works Galena collection of industrial style lighting fixtures, this version of an industrial pipe light is slightly more chic and elegant than the previous one described. Like the ceiling light, this bronze island pendant also features a pipe frame, deep bronze finish, vintage style Edison light bulbs, and safety cage shades. The arrangement of the eight light bulbs as well as the lines of the pipes give this island pendant piece a less rugged feel than the ceiling light, making it more suitable for a kitchen or dining space.
The Original™ Flush Mount Pendant Light is a great alternative to track lighting and fluorescent tubes in spaces that have low ceilings, like a basement or work room. The light comes with ceiling hugging flush mounting, which helps ensure that the light takes up as little space as possible. The design adds a touch of vintage industrial lighting to any modern setting.
The Varaluz Steel and Wood Bath Light combines the warmth of woodwork with classic industrial design to create a beautiful bathroom light. The rectangular back plate is made of hand forged steel, accented with dark stained wood. Steel finish metal horseshoe accents and overhang arms draw attention to three exposed bulbs.
For aficionados of minimalist industrial design, the Corrugated Drum Tin Ceiling Light is an excellent choice. The light features a layered double ceiling drum in corrugated tin with an aged zinc finish. This light would add a vintage industrial feel to a mudroom, a teen’s room, or even the kitchen.
This unique piece is available in a variety of styles ranging from 3 to 8 lights in a variety of configurations. The one pictured features five vintage style bulbs in industrial style tubular iron safety cages. This industrial style flush mount light would look lovely in a hallway or basement, or even a work cottage if you’re lucky enough to have one.
So do you have industrial style light fixtures in your home? Which styles are your favorites?
