It is no secret that I love Ritz-Carlton hotels as they are well know for the luxury they provide. From Michelin-starred dining to one-on-one attention from staff, Ritz-Carlton knows how to make their guests feel valued. The high end brand is expanding their hospitality services to include luxury yachts. Dubbed by some as “anti-cruise ships”, the first of three lavish cruising yachts in this series is scheduled to take to the sea in the fourth quarter of 2019. The bespoke tours will bring all the luxury of Ritz Carlton hotels to the seas.
“This unique combination of yachting and cruising will usher in a new way of luxury travel for guests seeking to discover the world in a relaxed, casually elegant and comfortable atmosphere with the highest level of personalized service,” explains Herve Humler, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C.
Smaller than the typical cruise liner, the specially designed vessel will accommodate up to 298 passengers. This will allow for a more personalized experience and open the possibility to customized excursions. The luxury yachts will offer 149 suites, each one with its own private balcony. Those who book early can take advantage of one of the two lavish duplex penthouse suites available. The penthouses are beautifully finished with modern craftsmanship jointly designed by The Ritz-Carlton and leading cruise ship design firm, Tillberg Design of Sweden.
According to their press release, “guests will indulge in a cruising style that is unparalleled in the ultra-luxury cruise and private yachting sectors.” The yachts will feature several Ritz-Carlton hotel notables, such as their signature spas. Another feature is a restaurant by Sven Elverfeld of Aqua, the three Michelin-starred restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg. A Panorama Lounge and wine board will provide top notch on-board entertainment options. Offshore, bespoke curated journeys will delight travelers, including collaborations with local chefs and artists. These experiences will provide Ritz-Carlton luxury cruise guests with unique and authentic experiences on their journey.
While the ships will not set sail until 2019, booking will begin shortly in May 2018. Itineraries are being developed currently, and voyages will range from seven to ten days. The small size of the ships will allow for opportunities to call at desirable locations such as Capri and Portofino that are not accessible by larger cruise ships. With a relaxed pace and a mix of both overnight and daytime ports of call, guest will be offered a unique curated travel experience.
As they combine the lifestyle of The Ritz-Carlton’s luxury resorts and the casual freedom of a yachting vacation, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Marriott International are poised to become a powerful new entry into the field of luxury cruise lines. The ships are also available for private charter. To learn more about the Ritz-Carlton yacht experience, please visit www.ritzcarlton.com/en/yachts.
